April was National Volunteer Month and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you that perform volunteer work at Fair Park throughout the year. In addition to supporting the Dallas Park & Recreation Department efforts, we very much appreciate your time, skills, knowledge and expertise in furthering the mission of our various attractions and museums. It is because of your giving that we are all able to enhance and expand our programs and services. Thank You!!!!

The beautiful spring weather is ideal for outdoor festivals and celebrations. With a huge Univision Cinco de Mayo that topped 50,000 in attendance last weekend, we have another Cinco de Mayo and many others events for your enjoyment this month. Liberman Broadcasting returns on May 3rd for their Second Annual Cinco de Mayo at Fair Park. This family event kicks off at 11 a.m. and features great food, entertainment and the musical talents of Pablo Montero, Massore and Bronco. For more information, please visit www.lbimedia.com.

Friends of Fair Park and the City of Dallas present the 3rd Annual Dog Bowl, The Ultimate Pooch Party at the Cotton Bowl Stadium on May 17th. Join us for an afternoon of fun entertainment, activities, giveaways and exhibits presented by veterinarians, trainers and a variety of pet product vendors. This free event takes place from 1-5 p.m. inside the Cotton Bowl and is open to dogs of all sizes and their owners. For more information, please visit www.fairpark.org.

For those of us who enjoy art, we can hardly wait for Artfest 2009! This premier fine art show is in its 40th year and will be held Memorial Day weekend. The festival includes music, the performing arts, demonstrations and fun for all ages. For festival hours, admission and other information, please visit www.artfest500.com.

On May 18th be sure to watch the television debut of Fourth and Long on SPIKE TV that was filmed at the Cotton Bowl Stadium. Also remember that the 2009 Dallas Summer Musical Season opens with RENT on May 5th. Make sure to make plans to visit soon and visit often!
